Course Components
Choir Practice: Students will participate in Mars Hill Choir weekly, learning the basics of singing classic hymns.
At-Home Work: The first semester will consist of going through the Memoria Press Music Appreciation Book 1 material and completing the review tests per the schedule below. Quarter 3 will focus on hymn writers. There will be a short biography of a hymn writer due at the end of the quarter. Quarter 4 will focus more on worldview. We will read Why Johnny Can’t Sing Hymns, which examines the current state of worship music as it has been shaped by contemporary culture. An analytical review of this book will be due at the end of the quarter.
